Dear Simon, congratulations on a remarkable achievement. I spoke to James at Huddersfield recently about Nine Rivers. I think you might be interested in some of the things he had to say. Please email me at, amunro11@live.co.uk
Thanks for this labor of love of an upload and the introduction to a major contemporary music cycle. While I'm not convinced by the first 3 segments (the opening for percussion is a tad unimaginative – compare with Gubaïdulina's Glorious Percussion, 2009), the orchestral middle sections, from La Coupure to Introitus, are fine concoctions of instrumental, vocal and electronic music adroitly mingled together into some Alchemical brew. The music often transports the listener down an aural stream of consciousness, providing one abandons his critical/analytical ears.
I am absolutely overwhelmed at your effort and generosity. I can't think of anything else to say at this point, but am delighted to have an opportunity to hear 9 Rivers complete. Perhaps once I've downloaded and listened and studied your notes (and the scores!) I'll have more to say. Thank you and take care.
