I want to simply say thank you. The modernist take on Mahler is what keep me interested and astounded. For me, a late discovery in life after many years of too much romantic take on his music. Let me summarise saying modernist Mahler makes Mahler no less dramatic and even scary at times, when necessary (often), but for sure makes him more important and meaningful. If more of the audience can hear Gielen, they will understand.
